Privacy Policy

Mango Note ("Mango Note", "we", "us") is a personal note-taking service available at mangonote.it and in our mobile app. We build it to keep your notes light to write and made to last. Your notes are yours, and this policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

In short: we collect only what we need to run your account and your notes. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use your notes to train AI models.

1. Information we collect

Account details: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider, and nothing else.
Your content: the notes, notebooks, tags, and attachments you create, import (for example Evernote .enex, Markdown, or HTML files), or share.
Device and session data: an identifier for each device you sign in on (used to apply your plan's device limit), your language preference, and a session cookie that keeps you signed in.
Technical logs: basic server logs such as IP address, request time, and errors, used for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.
Plan and billing status: which plan you are on. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by a third-party payment provider; we do not store your card number.

2. How we use information

To create and secure your account, and to sign you in.
To store, sync, search, lock, export, and share your notes across your devices.
To send service emails, such as email address confirmation and password reset links. These emails are sent in English. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
To enforce plan limits, prevent abuse, and keep the service reliable.
To comply with legal obligations.

3. Google user data

If you choose "Sign in with Google", Mango Note requests only the openid, email, and profile scopes. We use your name and email address solely to create and identify your Mango Note account. We do not access your Google contacts, Drive, Gmail, or any other Google data.

Mango Note's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or allow humans to read it except with your consent, for security purposes, to comply with law, or for internal operations that are necessary to provide the service.

4. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

With service providers who help us operate Mango Note, such as hosting, database, email delivery (SMTP), and payment providers, and only as needed to perform those services.
When you choose to share a note by link: anyone with the link can view that note until you stop sharing it.
For legal reasons: if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

5. Note lock and security

The note lock feature asks for a password before a protected note is opened or edited, and re-locks after a period of inactivity. Note lock is an access control; it is not end-to-end encryption of stored content. We protect data in transit with HTTPS and apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure.

6. Retention and deletion

We keep your account and notes while your account is active. You can export your notes to files at any time. If you cancel or move to a lower plan, your notes are not deleted. To delete your account and the data associated with it, contact us at the address below and we will process the request within a reasonable time, except for data we must keep for legal reasons.

7. Cookies

We use only essential cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in and a language cookie to remember your language. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can edit most details in your account settings; for anything else, contact us.

9. Children

Mango Note is not directed to children under 14 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app.
